CIM interacts with global F&B industry representatives at Indusfood 2025

Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, engaged with global F&B industry delegates participating in Indusfood 2025 during an interaction at Vanijya Bhavan on January 10, 2025. While lauding the success of the event, he articulated that India has the potential to reach US$ 100 billion of combined exports in the Food & Beverage (F&B), agriculture and marine products industries in the next five years.

CIM meets F&B industry stakeholders_TPCI

Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal announced an ambitious target of achieving $100 billion in combined exports from the Food & Beverage (F&B), agriculture, and marine products industries within the next five years. Addressing F&B stakeholders at Vanijya Bhavan during the 8th edition of Indusfood 2025, Shri Goyal emphasized that this goal is achievable with an annual growth rate of 14-15%.

The Minister lauded the success of Indusfood 2025, organized by the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) with support from the Department of Commerce, as a testament to India’s growing stature in the global F&B sector. He highlighted the Government’s progressive policies, including 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) allowance in the F&B sector, enabling foreign ownership, management, and easy work permits for international professionals seeking to invest or work in India.

Encouraging innovation, Shri Goyal urged Indian companies to invest in sustainable practices, advanced packaging, and mechanized processes to enhance hygiene and quality. He also stressed the importance of developing high-value nutritional products that could contribute to the Government’s food security programs.

The Minister emphasized the Government’s commitment to sustainability, particularly in farming practices, and its efforts to promote organic agriculture. Simplified certification processes for organic products, while ensuring traceability and transparency, were cited as critical measures to tap into the immense potential of organic farming.

Shri Goyal announced plans to expand food testing laboratories nationwide, welcoming suggestions from stakeholders on equipment and processes to establish high-quality testing facilities. He encouraged industry representatives to explore India’s diverse culinary offerings to innovate and set global standards for Indian products.

Pre-packaged and ready-to-eat Indian foods, such as millets, pickles, and spices, were highlighted as success stories in international markets, reflecting India’s potential to dominate the global F&B landscape.

TPCI Chairman Mohit Singla shared an oveview of the key highlights of Indusfood 2025 and thanked all stakeholders for contributing to the spectacular success of the show. International delegates at this gathering also shared their experiences and perspective on how Indian cuisine/F&B products could be better promoted in the international market.
