Trade Promotion Council of India is organising the India-Africa IT & Telecom Virtual Trade Fair for African countries on 7-9 December 2021. The event aims to enable Indian exporters tap into the huge potential in the telecom and IT sector of the African market.<\/p>\n
India\u2019s telecom and IT sector is experiencing robust growth in the world market, with segments such as mobile witnessing exponential growth.<\/p>\n
Focused Countries:<\/strong> Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia.<\/p>\n In Africa, there is growing penetration of mobile users, with around 330 million unique subscribers. Currently, mobile penetration rate in the region is around 38%. Ratio of mobile lines to total population is also high at 80% for Kenya, 70% for Tanzania, 130% for South Africa, 110% for Namibia and 100% for Ghana. High number of subscriptions and mobile connections imply that Africa is on track to a highly developed IT and telecom sector.<\/p>\n In West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region, investments in the telecom sector are expected to grow the market size of the industry by a CAGR of 0.4% during 2020-25, reaching US$ 1.5 billion. In terms of goods trade, these regions import more than US$ 112.5 billion worth of goods such as electrical machinery and equipment; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers. Currently India caters to only 3% of this market\u2019s import demand.
