The webinar aimed to deliberate on the evolution of AI across the world in the pandemic period, its progress and potential impact on India’s business competitiveness, and how the country can leverage its lucrative ecosystem and strong policy support to emerge a frontrunner in this technology area of the future.
The economic and social potential of deployment of AI technology is increasingly being recognized by policymakers, academia, firms, and civil society. The wide scope of its application in various sectors such as agriculture, health, and education among others has stimulated rapid growth in this fast-evolving AI ecosystem.
AI adoption in various sectors has been focused on improving access, quality, and efficiency of service delivery, and solving time-sensitive problems. However, its deployment is fraught with challenges that have emerged in the discourses concerning ethics, privacy, data protection, and governance. Hence a multi-stakeholder approach is required while engaging and involving multilateral organizations, public and private sectors, academia, start-ups, investors/venture capitalists on issues regarding the design, development, and deployment of AI technology in India and in understanding its start-up ecosystem.
